Ms Monalisa Dutta -

The Empowered Trailblazer

Ms. Monalisa Dutta faced a hysterectomy at midlife, a procedure still shrouded in taboo and misinformation in Indian society. Her journey proves that informed decisions and supportive loved ones transform challenges into triumphs.
Her Courageous Journey

Beyond myths to modern truth

Ms. Dutta tried to avoid surgery for her uterine condition, but necessity led her to our care.

We initially considered laparoscopy or robotic methods, common today. However, her case required strict adherence to oncologic principles, making open surgery the safer choice to protect her long-term health. She felt surprised at first, wondering why others received minimally invasive procedures while she needed open surgery.

Patiently, we explained the risks, sharing the tragic story of Dr. Amy Reed from Boston. Initially misdiagnosed with fibroids, her tumour spread during unplanned microsurgery, costing her life.

Armed with this knowledge and her own research alongside her husband, Ms. Dutta chose wisely. Her open surgery proceeded uneventfully, and recovery brought her newfound vitality.

Thriving After Surgery

Post-recovery, Ms. Dutta travels the world every six months, cherishing bright family moments. She discovered her hidden talent for charcoal art, creating pieces that capture emotion and light.

Her kitchen magic delights loved ones, turning simple ingredients into feasts of flavor and warmth. A supportive family stands as her greatest strength, reminding us that collective encouragement fuels personal success.
Beyond design, she is a gifted painter, a skilled stitcher, a gracious host, and a culinary enthusiast. Each thread she weaves, each dish she prepares, tells a story of hope, perseverance, and love for life. Her keen sense of colour and her eye for beauty make her creations not just fashion, but emotion—expressing triumph over pain

Lessons in Informed Choice

Ms. Dutta shatters old myths about hysterectomy. Modern science shows no link to temperament changes or mental decline; these are outdated fears persisting even in educated circles. Technology aids us, but patient education and strategic planning ensure the best outcomes.

In Her Own Words

Ms Monalisa Dutta
Life after surgery did not end for me- it truly "began again."

Many believe hysterectomy or menopause marks the end of a woman's active life, but my journey proves otherwise.

After my surgery, I rediscovered myself with renewed strength and confidence. I developed new skills, immersed myself with reading, and embraced learning with joy.

Charcoal drawing which I am passionate about and gardening became my quiet healers, helping me de-stress and reconnect with myself.

I also found deeper purpose in teaching under privileged children in our society and occasionally visiting homes for specially abled children.

Travel, exploration, and new experiences brought back my sense of freedom and independence- creating beautiful memories along the way which I will cherish lifelong.

I also have rekindled my passion for interior decoration- proof that capability does not diminish after surgery.

Infact this phase taught me resilience, self belief, and courage to live fully and enjoy every small moments of my life.

"Hysterectomy did not take my life away from me; instead gave me clarity and direction."

To every woman facing this surgery- there is a vibrant, meaningful life beyond it. I am living evidence that healing leads to strength.

I express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Manas Chakrabarti,

whose skill, guidance and compassionate care not only healed me but also restored my faith and hope for a fulfilling life ahead.
